Background

The Global Report on Teachers is a flagship publication jointly produced by UNESCO and the Teacher Task Force. Published every two years, it brings together global evidence and analysis to inform policy dialogue and guide action on the teaching profession worldwide.

The 2026 edition will focus on lifelong learning for teachers, exploring how continuous professional development and supportive learning ecosystems can help attract, prepare and retain qualified teachers. It will build on the findings of previous editions to highlight effective policies and practices contributing to the achievement of SDG 4, particularly target 4.c, which calls for a substantial increase in the supply of qualified teachers.
